Those who don/t smoke weed still exist. However, even if you’ve never used, your drug test might have an unexpected result because of false positive. Today we’ll continue our series about false positives. Read attentively and don’t forget to make a self-testing
Who can fail a drug test when not being a drug user?
It’s sad, but modern drug tests still may show up the presence of THC, even if none joint was smoked. The chance you consume absolutely legal food or meds and fail the drug test is from 1% to 5% because of the imperfection of the drug tests, especially the EMIT. So, consuming some “safe” meds and food, your result might mark as positive, and you’re faced with full consequences of drug user’s reputation.
The list of meds, foods and health conditions you’ll have to know before the THC drug test
Dronabinol (Marinol) or “medical marijuana”— helps to reduce nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy. The active substance of Dronabinol is synthetic THC. If you are taking it, your test will be positive.
Ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin, Orudis KT, Excedrin IB, etc.), Ketoprofen (Orudis KT), Naproxen (Aleve) —widely used painkillers from the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory class of medication. Some researchers claim that these meds don’t cause the false positives. However, another still include these in the “blacklist” of meds before the THC drug test because of affecting of the enzymes on the EMIT test.
Protonix (Pantoprazole sodium) — used for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease, a digestive disorder when the patient suffers from heartburn and acid indigestion.
Vitamin supplements — Riboflavin (B2) and some herbs that contain B vitamins like coriander leaves, parsley, asparagus, spinach. It’s almost unreal to eat enough spinach for false drug test result, but some riboflavin made from hempseed oil can affect results of the test.
Hempseed oil inunusually large doses (above 1000-2000 mg daily) theoretically can test positive during the urine drug screen. Some kinds of "Strong & Kind" bars — Hickory Smoked, Roasted Jalapeno, Honey Mustard, Thai Sweet Chili, and Honey Smoked BBQ with hemp seeds in may contain low levels of THC.
Kidney infection, diabetes, liver diseases also could affect results of the drug test.
Passive smoke – remember that if you’re in the poorly ventilated room with a cloud of weed smoke, it can lead to a positive result.Had a party?Test your self.
What to remember if you’re going to pee in a cup or pass any other type of the test?
To avoid misunderstanding and consequences of false positives, remember these simple things:
Bring your prescription bottle to show the laboratory staff when having any drug testing done.
Replace your Ibuprofen, Ketoprofen or Naproxen with Aspirin or Acetaminophen. Or try not take them at least during three days before the test.
Pay attention to ensure what you’re eating. Avoid hemp seeds and products that contain them.
Always make self-testing at home before the test. Including hair and saliva test, if not sure what kind of the test your employer or somebody else is going to use.
Clean your system if not sure with a solution that workson a test day.
