Let's start by stressing that drinking bleach to pass a drug test is a bad idea, a really bad one, and we'll explain why. Anyone that suggests it as a good way to pass a drug test is clearly talking nonsense. Fortunately, there are safer, more effective ways
to pass a drug test.
Reasons for not drinking bleach to pass a drug test
First, drinking bleach is downright dangerous. It's designed as a harsh detergent to clean and kill germs, not as a tasty beverage to sip on before a drug test. A typical bleach can contain sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, sodium polyacrylate and sodium carbonate, as well as chemicals for fragrance and other impurities. While all these aren't usually a problem if your hand is splashed while cleaning, they can cause problems when ingested.
Okay, so how come people have done this and lived to tell the tale? Well, in small enough amounts, bleach won't kill you, especially if you dilute it in enough water or milk. That said, just a few drops of bleach can affect your body. It's corrosive enough to irritate and damage your esophagus and mucous membrane. It may then make you feel nauseous, and any vomiting will re-expose your esophagus to even more corrosion. You may also get diarrhea.
Of course, it only gets worse as you drink more, and you may experience low blood pressure and chest pains, possibly leading to coma or death. In short, it's really not a good idea.
Second, there is nothing in bleach that will actually help you to pass a drug test. No one knows where this myth came from. Maybe people thought because it's such a good cleaning agent, it will clean drugs from your system. In reality, not only will it make you sick, you will still fail your drug test, if you even make it that far.
Other ways to pass a drug test
A more pleasant and effective way to pass a drug test is to use some detox pills or a detox drink shortly before a urine drug test. Both these types of products get to work in quickly flushing drug metabolites and other toxins from your bladder, enabling you to give a urine sample that's clean enough to pass a drug test.
While this sounds really simple, and to an extent it is, you should always make sure you follow the directions for whatever product you buy. This usually includes sticking to a certain amount of fluids, not eating a heavy meal beforehand, and always urinating a few times prior to your drug test.
You can also pass saliva drug tests without resorting to bleach. Instead of swishing bleach through your mouth, why not just use a detox mouthwash?
For a hair drug test, you might be tempted to treat your hair with bleach. This might even help, because they can't test your hair if it all falls out. A wiser course of action, though, is to treat your hair with a special detox shampoo.
