Many people regard cocaine as a social drug, something they can take on a night out without getting too dependent on it. For this reason, it's easy to accept someone's offer of a line of coke or a quick bump. Where does this land you with drug tests, though?
If you're asking yourself, "I did 2 lines of cocaine: Is it out of my system in 5 days?" don't worry. You've come to the right place.
Cocaine and drug tests
Cocaine is routinely tested for in the simplest 5-panel drug tests, so there is zero chance of not being caught if you used it very recently, at least if you don't take precautions.
Drug tests usually look at a urine, saliva, or hair sample and identify the concentration of beonzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine that stays in the body much longer than the drug itself. If the concentration is found to be higher than a set threshold (e.g., 300 ng/ml for an initial urine drug screening), it triggers a positive result (i.e., a fail).
I did 2 lines of cocaine: Is it out of my system in 5 days?
This basically comes down to how much cocaine you've been using and the health of your kidneys. If it was just a couple of lines and you've rarely used cocaine on other occasions, if at all, you should be okay to take a urine drug test after five days. That said, people with some kidney disorders have trouble flushing cocaine metabolites out of their bodies, so they may need up to ten days before taking a drug test.
Regular, long-term cocaine users will also need up to ten days of complete abstinence before passing a drug test. This is because when used regularly, cocaine metabolites build up faster than the body can flush them out. This inevitably means that chronic users have a higher level of metabolites to flush out.
The detection times for saliva drug tests can vary depending on the sensitivity of screening devices, but it's reasonable to assume a detection time of 2-10 days. Hair drug tests have a 90-day detection period as standard, regardless of the particular drug.
In addition to completely abstaining from cocaine, you may want to help your body by going on a 7-day detox course.
Will I really be clean after 5 days?
No one can absolutely say that you will be clean after five days. You should be, but maybe your metabolism works a little slower. Maybe you have a kidney disorder that hasn't been diagnosed yet. The only way to know for sure is to test yourself. If you've only used cocaine recently, a single panel device will be fine. If you've used other drugs, maybe get a 5-panel device instead, because for example, weed can be notoriously persistent in urine drug tests.
Regardless of the test result, it's a good idea to already be prepared with the right product. This means a detox drink for urine drug tests, a mouthwash for saliva tests, and a shampoo for hair drug tests. Even if you find you don't need them this time, it will be handy to have them ready for future drug tests.
