Coke is routinely tested for in any basic 5-panel drug test, so if you have coke in your system when you take a drug test, there's a high chance of failing. If it's been long enough since you last used, though, maybe you will get away with it, but how do you work this out? Here's a quick guide to finding out if you'll be clean for a drug test, as well as how you can avoid failing.
For how long does coke stay in your system?
Coke itself actually leaves your body fairly quickly. Unfortunately, though, as the body metabolizes cocaine, it leaves behind a byproduct called benzoylecgonine. This has a much longer half-life, so it lingers in the body for much longer.
For this reason, drug tests focus on this metabolite to achieve a much longer detection time.
Urine drug tests
Most people will be at risk of failing a drug test 2-5 days after last using coke, but it can be up to 7-10 days for heavy users. People with certain kidney disorders also face this longer detection period. Rather than assume you will be clean, it's wise to test yourself at home before a real urine drug test.
Saliva drug tests
Detection periods for cocaine in saliva drug tests are hard to predict because the testing devices vary in quality and sensitivity. It could be anything from two to ten days. This means it's pointless to test yourself unless you can find exactly the same device.
Hair drug tests
Once drugs and their metabolites get into your hair cells, they stay there forever. Of course, you'll cut the hair off at some point, or it will fall out eventually. Testers also usually only take the most recent inch and a half of hair, but the detection time is still 90 days. It's therefore a good idea to use a detox shampoo before a hair drug test.
Passing a drug test
Firstly, you could pass a urine or saliva drug test by detoxing before your test. A weeklong detox program should do the trick for most people, especially if you combine it with some healthy lifestyle changes.
If you don't have the time for this, though, you could instead use an emergency detox product just before your drug test. For saliva drug tests, this means using a detox mouthwash directly before your test to remove any traces of drugs.
Urine drug tests require a little more preparation, but you can still be ready in an hour or two with a good detox drink. By boosting your urinary system, this will cause drugs and their metabolites to be flushed out through your urine. While there will still be coke in your system, it will not be reflected in your urine for the next few hours, enabling you to take a urine drug test. Just make sure you read the directions and use your drink at the right time.
