If you've taken Molly recently, you're probably wondering how it will affect a drug test. Many people think Molly is a pure form of MDMA, unlike other versions that are often mixed with amphetamines. Today's modern Molly, however, is usually nothing like this. Of the Molly seized in New York state in 2013, the DEA said only 13% contained any MDMA at all. What's more, even these were often combined with other chemicals.
The modern form of Molly is more likely to be a cocktail of various other drugs, such as Pentedrone, Methylone, 4-MEC, MDPV, MePP, and 4-MMC. These are imported from labs in China, where they are legal, and then combined into something to mimic the effects of ecstasy.
So, how long does molly stay in your system? This is almost impossible to answer fully, because the ingredients vary a lot, but we'll try to at least give you a guide. We'll also look at how it's likely to affect a drug test.
Is Molly Detectable in Drug Tests?
If you've been taking Molly that's pure MDMA, it's not part of the standard SAMHSA-5 drug test. However, MDMA is chemically similar enough that it can cause positives for both amphetamines and methamphetamines. It's also specifically tested for in the Department of Transport's 5-panel test, as well as extended drug tests.
It's less clear how taking Molly without MDMA will affect drug tests, though. Many of the ingredients used in modern Molly are relatively new compounds that are byproducts of medical research. Drug tests generally don't look for any of these drugs, but they are often similar enough to other drugs to trigger a positive. What's more, the accuracy of immunoassays varies considerably, and some devices are more prone to false positives.
You basically need to be prepared for the danger of failing.
How Long Does Molly Stay in Your System?
Pure MDMA can be detected in urine drug tests for about 1-3 days, although it can be 3-5 days for heavier users.
If you don't know what was in the Molly you took, it's much harder to tell. Amphetamines have a similar half-life, so a few days might be enough. Some chemicals, however, can linger longer in the body, so you would be best served by having a longer detox period or using a same-day detox product.
Passing a Drug Test for Molly
No matter what was in the Molly you took, there are ways to submit a clean urine sample with same-day detox solutions.
The easiest way to pass a urine drug test is with a detox drink. This can be used on the day of your drug test as little as an hour before the test. It works by quickly flushing toxins from your bladder and kidneys. When you then give a urine sample, the levels of drug metabolites will be too low to trigger a positive.
