Do you have a drug test coming up and worried you may fail for meth? No matter how much time you have before your test, or what type of test it is, you can probably still pass if you're smart about it.
First, don't listen to suggestions about home remedy solutions like adding a drop of bleach to your sample. This will cause you to fail the adulterant test and make it look like you were cheating (which you were). You'll probably still fail for meth as well.
Another common one is taking a heavy dose of baking soda in water. This can make you feel sick to your stomach and cause severe diarrhea for the rest of the day, and there's at best only anecdotal evidence that it works. Why go through such an unpleasant experience for something that probably won't help?
You may find other variations as well, but someone passing a drug test through sheer luck or a faulty testing device does not mean it will work for you.
Do you have a few days?
Methamphetamine generally stays in the body longer than amphetamines, with it usually being detectable for 3-5 days in urine and 1-3 days in saliva.
If you have a few days before you need to pass a meth test, you could start a weeklong detox program straight away. If you can complete the whole week, that's great—you're all but certain to pass.
If you need to take your test a few days into your detox, you will probably be okay for a saliva test, but you may want test your urine to see if you'll pass. Don't worry if you fail, though, because you can fall back on the method below.
Only have a few hours?
If you have hours rather than days to prepare for a drug test, the first thing to do is avoid any sort of drugs straight away. The longer it's been since you last used meth, the better your chances of passing.
Many users prepare for a urine test by using a detox drink. This works for many drugs, including meth, by flushing the urinary system clean for a few hours. Once the levels of telltale drug metabolites are below the threshold of testing devices, you will get a negative (pass) result, and this will be the end of the matter, at least until the next drug test.
If you need to take a saliva drug test, but couldn't detox for a few days beforehand, you can prepare for your test by using a detox mouthwash straight before it. The entire process takes just a few minutes, but you do need to ensure you reach all parts of your mouth. It's then important not to eat, drink, smoke, or even brush your teeth until you've given your sample, because this will lead to more saliva being produced.
