Subbing is the process of substituting a different sample for your own urine. It's a little trickier than methods like detox drinks, but it has many advantages that can make it worthwhile. Here's a quick guide on how to sub a urine sample.
Why Sub Urine?
For most people, detox drinks will work fine if used appropriately, but they're not for everyone. Firstly, they usually need a couple of days of abstinence before a test, and not everyone will be able to do this. They're also not usually recommended if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. To make matters worse, pregnancy disturbs the body's usual balance, putting pregnant women at a disadvantage for drug tests.
Some people just prefer subbing because it works so well. What's more, if you can get hold of a real urine sample, it doesn't really cost you anything.
Real urine has the advantage of being free if you know someone willing to give you a clean sample. This isn't always easy, because various prescription drugs-such as painkillers, benzos, and ADHD medications-can also cause you to fail a drug test.
Real urine also doesn't stay good that long. It'll last a couple of days max at room temperature or maybe a week in the refrigerator. Some people freeze urine samples for up to a year, but this causes sediment that needs to be filtered out.
Can Subbed Urine Be Detected?
Drug tests are typically limited to testing for specific drug metabolites. They don't look at things like DNA and hormone levels, because it would be an invasion of privacy and involve extra work/cost to carry out.
Preparing for a Drug Test
The first time will always be the most stressful, so practice it a bit beforehand. Knowing how to sub a urine sample is one thing, but doing it convincingly is another. The first challenge is to find a place where you can hide your bottle of urine. You'll usually be asked to empty your pockets, so it needs to be somewhere under your clothes. Many people hide it near their genitals, but you can also get special pouches to strap it to your body. Whatever you do, make sure it isn't outwardly visible and you can walk normally.
Your sample also needs to be between 90 and 100 degrees when you hand it in. Some people microwave it first, but heating pads are a convenient solution if this isn't possible.
For an employment drug test, you'll be given the dignity of peeing in private, but the collector may be within earshot of you. When you practice, make sure you're not making any obvious sounds when you pour the sample. If you don't do anything to trigger suspicion, you'll be fine.
After the actual test, don't throw anything away until you're well away from the testing area.
